Restriction, Perfection – The Other Side of Beauty

Actress in slip-like dress, bound by metal tubing around her head and bodyBecca Cerra, a 2016 Emerging Artist Grantee, will exhibit her custom sculptures July 7 to August 4 at Homewood Studios, 2400 Plymouth Ave. N., Minneapolis (612-587-0230). A dancer, choreographer and metal sculptor, Cerra created a multi-dimensional project last year that asked uncomfortable questions and eloquently told the story of how women, when working together, can overcome their own limiting beliefs. This exhibit includes iron and steel sculptures (“restrictive clothing”), mini-performances, and photograph and video footage documenting development of the project.
Opening Reception: Friday, July 7 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
Gallery Talk: Tuesday, July 25 will begin at 7:00.
Regular exhibit hours: Tues. 5-9, Wed. & Fri. 1-6, and Sat. 1-4.
