The National Federation of the Blind of North Dakota will hold an “Access to Technology and Resources Fair” on Friday, September 15 from 8:30 to 5:00 at the Ramada Inn (formerly Baymont Inn & Suites), 3333 13th Ave S in Fargo.
Workshops and breakout sessions are targeted to those with recent vision loss, senior citizens, adults of all ages, students and parents. Some include daily living product demonstrations; iPhone and iPad apps; Android phones and tablet demonstrations; All about Guide dogs; Low Vision Aids; Recreation and Leisure activities; support networks and more! A vendor exhibit room, demonstrations and presentations by vendors, and door prizes will be offered.
Keynote speaker in the morning is Dr. Fred Schroder, President of the World Blind Union. At 2:00 a panel of rehabilitation services will include Paul Olson, Superintendent NDVS SB; representative from ND DVR; and Dan Wenzel, Executive Director of Blind Inc.
The Fargo Moorhead Vision Group will hold its monthly luncheon meeting, and after school hours pizza and swimming in the hotel pool will be offered for students and parents. At 7:00 “Do you Dream in Color” will be shown with audio description at the hotel.
On Saturday, September 16, the annual National Federation of the Blind of North Dakota state convention will be from 9 AM to 4 PM. Preregistration and a $25 fee for the luncheon banquet are required.
