Seeing Light in the Darkness – A Review

Minnesota writer and performer, Jeff Smith, has self-published a book titled, Seeing Light in the Darkness. He has written this work in collaboration with writer and friend John Arehart. VSA Minnesota Executive Director Craig Dunn has written a review and it is included here:

ReAL Teaching Artist Workshop on 4/4/14 Postponed; moved to 4/16/14

Join VSA Minnesota, the Perpich Center for Arts Education and the Paramount Visual and Performing Arts Center for the first “Reaching All Learners” (ReAL) professional development workshop designed for VSA Minnesota roster teaching artists and other teaching artists from across the state. It’s now Wednesday, April 16th in St. Cloud.

Lundi Gras in 2014 – Loondi Gras for 2015

2014 ADA Access Improvement Grants available

VSA Minnesota has two grant opportunities for nonprofit arts organizations in the Twin Cities (served by the Metro Regional Arts Council) and in northwest Minnesota (served by the Lake Region Arts Council).

Minnesota Disability Mural Project

A round textured mass of red, magenta and yellow on a background of orange and yellow brushstrokes that all lead to the mass of red;

Nearly 800 people participated from the Twin Cities and St. Cloud metro areas. Over one thousand 1’ x 1’ panels were created during the summer of 2013 and exhibited at Gallery Saint Germain in St. Cloud and City Center in Minneapolis in October 2013.

Artists with Disabilities receive Jerome Grants

Seven Minnesota artists were awarded grants of $1,500 each by VSA Minnesota in December 2013. The 18th annual competitive grant, funded by the Jerome Foundation, recognizes excellence by emerging Minnesota artists with disabilities and encourages them to complete new work.
