No matter how well a teaching artist, arts specialist or classroom teacher knows their artform or their various areas of teaching content, all teaching professionals need opportunities and resources that assist them in meeting the learning needs of the students with whom they work.
VSA Minnesota is dedicated to providing professional development opportunities and informational resources for teaching artists seeking to improve their understanding of students with disabilities and exceptional education needs (EEN) so that their teaching can be as effective as possible. In addition, VSA Minnesota serves as a repository of information that can benefit arts specialists serving students with disabilities and EENs & special education teachers seeking to incorporate the arts into their mix of programming activities.
The 2016 Reaching All Learners (ReAL) Professional Development Workshops are five-hour workshops designed for teaching artists, arts specialists and special education teachers to improve their skills in working with student of all abilities, especially those with disabilities and with special education needs. Information on our next ReAL workshop can be found at in our current workshop web posting.
VSA Minnesota has received funds from the Kennedy Center’s Office of VSA and Accessibility to support this work.
