VSA Minnesota’s Accessible Arts Calendar is in its last month of being administered by VSA Minnesota, which is closing on September 27. The calendar will then be assumed by the Minnesota Access Alliance (MNAA), a collaborative group of arts and cultural organization accessibility coordinators. The calendar lists arts events with ASL interpreting, captioning, audio description, performances by artists with disabilities, sensory-friendly or other accommodations. Listings include show descriptions, locations, access services, prices, discounts, contact info, running times/dates, names of describers and interpreters, etc.
The new calendar will ask arts/culture groups to submit listings online – as is the current practice with Minnesota Playlist. So add MNAA to your database: 651-539-2689, MNAccessAlliance@gmail.com or email@example.com; https://mnaccess.org/; https://www.facebook.com/mnaccess.org/. Until then, contact VSA at 612-332-3888.
Springboard for the Arts will continue compiling and distributing VSA Minnesota’s Artists’ Pipeline newsletter beginning this fall! If you’re currently subscribed to the newsletter, nothing will change, and you won’t be required to take any additional steps. There may be some small format changes to the look of the newsletter, but otherwise, it will cover the same news and information about artists with disabilities and making the arts accessible to people with disabilities. You’ll still be able to submit your listings via Springboard’s website, or by emailing Springboard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Springboard will be adding more resources to its roster for artists with disabilities, and is going to help facilitate the monthly Open Flow meetings (first Thursday of each month at Walker Church, 3104 16th Ave. S., Minneapolis). If you’d like to get email reminders about those opportunities to share art, writing, music, etc., and to support other artists with disabilities, contact Andy Sturdevant at 651-294-0907 or email email@example.com.
