Accessibility at the 2017 Minnesota State Fair

The 2017 Minnesota State Fair runs August 24 – September 4 in St. Paul (1265 Snelling Ave. N.). Here are some of the details; more are found on the State Fair website:

Thurs. Aug. 24, 7:30: Nickleback with special guest Daughtry; $80 & $65.
Fri. Aug. 25, 7:30: Stevie Nicks with special guest Vanessa Carlton: $90, $74, & $49.
Sat. Aug. 26, 8:00: Jim Gaffigan; $60 or $50.
Sun. Aug. 27, 7:30: Toby Keith with Special Guest 3 Doors Down; $101, $77, $68.50, $53, & $23.
Mon. Aug. 28, 8:00: Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons; $29.
Tues. Aug. 29, 7:30: John Mellencamp with Special Guest Carlene Carter; $64 or $49.
Wed. Aug. 30, 8:00: Pentatonix; $50 or $40.
Thurs. Aug. 31, 7:30: Usher with Special Guest Black Coffee; $97, $87, & $72.
Fri. Sept. 1, 7:45: The Minnesota Show with Garrison Keillor; $36 or $28.

Sun. Sept. 3, 7:30: Talent Show Finals; Free.
Mon. Sept. 4, 7:00: Sam Hunt with special guests LANco and Ryan Folles; $68 or $58.

Grandstand Tickets:

ASL interpreting schedule: Interpreters are available daily to assist guests from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Inquire about this free service at the Admin Too building on Cosgrove Street. If you have additional special requests for interpreter services, call 651-288-4448. The following events are interpreted daily:
9:30 AM: History On-A-Schtick at Schilling Amphitheater at West End Market.
11:00 AM: All-Star Stunt Dogs Splash at the North Woods.
12:30 PM: Sean Emery at Family Fair Stage in Baldwin Park.
2:00 PM: Daily Parade at the east side of the Family Fair Stage at Baldwin Park (featuring the high school marching band competition, floats, animals, specialty units, and visiting royalty). For more information, use the State Fair Fun Finder or view a daily schedule.

Assistive Listening Devices are available for free during Grandstand events (no reservation necessary). Simply check out receivers and headsets at the plaza level on the east side of the grandstand seating area (valid state ID and credit card required for deposit).

Other Entertainment:
Arts A’Fair – Fair guests will be entertained by drumming, dance and theater in pop-up showcases throughout the fairgrounds. This year’s Arts A’Fair features performances by Black Storytellers Alliance, Chicks on Sticks, COLLIDE Theatrical Dance Company, Duniya Drum & Dance, Green T Productions, Ifrah Mansour, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet & Mask Theatre, Lyric Arts Main Street Stage, Mixed Precipitation, Open Eye Figure Theatre, Stages Theatre Company, TaikoArts Midwest, Theatre Elision, Theatre of Fools, Voice of Culture Drum & Dance, and Zorongo Flamenco Dance. FREE Stage Entertainment includes many stages. Check for schedules.

Transportation: The Transit Hub, located near the West End Gate on the north end of the fairgrounds, provides easy, safe access to Park & Ride and all Express Service buses, all of which are accessible. Guest services housed in one convenient location include gate tickets; information booth; State FairWear Gift Shop; and equipment rental. Manual wheelchairs, electric scooters, strollers and wagons are for rent from HomeTown Mobility,, reservations at 1-877-928-5388. A limited number of wheelchairs and scooters are also available on a first come first serve basis without a reservation. There are also two Metro Mobility drop-off/pick-up locations: on Hoyt Avenue at Gate #2 and at the Como Loop Gate #9.

Mon. Aug. 28: Seniors and Kids Day ($9 age 65+ & age 5-12).
Tues. Aug. 29: Military Appreciation Day ($9 military any age & spouses with valid documentation of military service).
Wed. Aug. 30: Read & Ride Day (present library card at gate, $12, senior/youth $9, one discount per card).
Thurs. Aug. 31: Seniors Day ($9 age 65+).
Mon. Sept. 4 (Labor Day): Kids Day: ($9 age 5-12).
